Beyond the classroom

Science club
A vibrant and popular weekly Science club is run by sixth formers for lower school pupils.  At Science club pupils carry out a wide range of exciting experiments, activities and projects

Competitions
Each year pupils compete in a variety of both internal and external competitions.  Recent examples include the annual Science and English departments' Year 8 poetry competition, the Cambridge Chemisty Challenge for Gifted Year 12 students and a Year 10 national poster competition.

Trips
Being located close to central London and to the museums offers us the excellent opportunity to extend the curriculum beyond the classroom. Recent trips have included to the Hunterian Museum, Griffin Brewery and Science Museum.

Mentoring
The Science Department makes active use of the Sixth form students taking a Science subject at A level to mentor girls in Years 10 and 11.

Science Week
One of the Activities Week options each year is run by the Science department and includes a variety of trips and longer projects.

Chick Cam
Chick eggs are arriving to LMS on Monday 6th March to kick off our science week 2017 events. The chicks will be used both in science lessons and as part of extra-curricular activities. Students and teachers can keep a watchful eye over the chicks via our live stream on the right hand side of this page!
