Year 7
The Year 7 Religious Education course is designed to provide pupils with the knowledge and skills they need to develop an understanding of what religious faith is and why it is important. Pupils are given an introduction to the heroes and heroines in different faiths, and then study Sikhism, Judaism and Hinduism in more depth. The course provides a foundation for the Year 8 syllabus, which studies how religion affects peoples lives.

Year 8
The Year 8 Religious Studies course is designed to provide pupils with the knowledge and skills they need to develop an understanding of how religious faith affects the lives of individuals and their communities in different ways. Pupils are given an introduction to the rites of passage in a variety of faiths. They then study the person of Jesus and Islam in more depth. The course provides a foundation for the Year 9 syllabus, which studies the responses of religions to issues in the modern world.

Year 9
The aim of the Year 9 Religious Studies course is to provide pupils with the opportunity to consider the validity of religious and non-religious responses to fundamental questions about life. Pupils investigate a variety of theories and beliefs about the beginning of the universe, the existence of God, the different ways in which believers put their faith into action, and how people respond to the is-sues surrounding suffering. Pupils are encouraged to develop their understanding of the relationship between religion and life in the modern world, and how they view religious questions. The course provides a foundation for Unit 2 of the Edexcel GCSE syllabus.
