Key Stage 4

GCSE (starts in Year 10)

Pupils follow the Information and Communication Technology GCSE which covers the essential practical nature of the subject area as well as the effect that ICT is having on society. Pupils complete two controlled assessment tasks which are set annually by the examination board. Pupils should finish their first project by the end of Year 10.

They complete their second project in Year 11. In addition pupils complete a practical problem solving project where they have to use a range of ICT applications to solve realistic tasks. They complete a practice task in Year 10 and an actual task in Year 11. By completing the controlled assessment projects pupils learn a range of theory skills which cover the individual applications as well as aspects of the Information Systems Life Cycle; these are supplemented with a series of theory lessons, in Year 11, to prepare them for the final examination.

We teach the AQA GCSE specification.
