What will I Study?
Students will study ICT theory and gain a wider picture of the use of ICT and an understanding of terms and concepts involved in the study of this subject. They will also study legal, social and ethical issues arising from the increased use of ICT. Students learn how to make practical use of a range of applications software, hardware and communication technologies. In A2 they will tackle a substantial project using web design and animation applications.

How will I be assessed?
Assessment at AS is by examination. At A2 students will complete an examination and submit a substantial coursework project.

Future opportunities
This A level has been designed to help students who wish to go on to higher education courses or employment where understanding how ICT can be used in society and business, and the implications of its use, will be a valuable asset. What are the entry requirements? There is no specialist requirement beyond the standard entry to Lady Margaret’s Sixth Form. However, a GCSE in ICT is desirable. Students are expected to have an interest in ICT.

Combinations
ICT would combine well with all other subjects offered at Lady Margaret at A level. In particular: Mathematics (logic), English (analysis skills), Art (creativity), languages (programming with Visual Basic, HTML, Action Script.)
