Beyond the classroom

Pupils have many opportunities to access ICT outside of lessons. ICT rooms are open to all year groups before school, at lunchtime and after school for independent study and to complete homework. The ICT department also runs several clubs to support pupils with their learning and public examination work. Pupils also have access to many ICT related enrichment opportunities.

In recent years pupils have attended lectures hosted by Queen Mary, University of London on topics such as the magic of computer science and the role of women in computer science. Pupils have also attended workshops and covered topics such as composing ringtones and animating.

As we have a specialism in computing we are involved in outreach programmes with local primary schools and the local community. In recent years we have run projects with the University of the Third Age comparing school now with school fifty years ago. We also run several workshops annually with local primary schools. Lady Margaret pupils often work alongside the primary school children providing learning support and working collaboratively.
